2025 Fast Access Spotlight: 10 U.S. Hospitals Leading in Fast Access in 2025
We are proud to highlight 10 U.S. hospitals recognized for excellence in Fast Access—one of the most critical aspects of patient experience.
Unlike conventional hospital rankings that rely on clinical metrics or expert opinions, our approach is driven entirely by patient experience.
By analyzing over 35 million pieces of online patient feedback using advanced natural language processing and machine learning, we’ve identified 10 U.S. hospitals that patients themselves recognize as leaders in providing timely, accessible care.
What is Fast Access?
Fast Access is one of seven core care domains we measure at PEP Health, contributing to a hospital’s real-time PEP Score. We break Fast Access down into four essential components:
- Booking & Scheduling: Patients can easily secure appointments without unnecessary hurdles.
- Wait Times for Appointments: Hospitals keep wait lists short, ensuring care begins as soon as possible.
- Wait Times for Treatment: Once patients arrive, their journey through care is efficient and uninterrupted.
- Access to Staff: Patients can connect with the right healthcare professionals when they need them.
These components create a comprehensive picture of the patient’s journey to receiving care—a journey that, when optimized, leads to better outcomes and higher satisfaction.
This quote from a patient at Memorial Hospital Miramar—recognized as a leading hospital for Fast Access by patients—illustrates why this metric matters:
“I came in 10 min before closing with the worst ear pain of my life. The young lady at the front desk got me checked in and seen within seconds. I was then given an antibiotic that was ready within an hour and was out the door! I am so thankful that I was able to be seen in such notice to get started on medicine right away because everyone knows ear pain is the worst ! Thank you for your kindness , you saved me a trip to the ER! Recommended 100%.”
Why Fast Access Matters
- Earlier diagnosis and treatment
- Shorter recovery times
- Improved outcomes and overall well-being
- Fewer avoidable complications, readmissions, and ER visits
- Costs decrease for both patients and healthcare providers by avoiding unnecessary escalations in care.
By amplifying real patient voices, we aim to provide a transparent, experience-driven view of the hospitals making a meaningful impact in access to care.
